"The many styles of Andrea Rincon"

O GLOBO

1991. A renowned music festival in the northeast of Brazil .... in the scene, before a huge audience, a young charismatic female artist. More than 8000 fans, journalists from various parts of the world, a German radio and a Japanese television channel came to experience "Andrea Rincon: Live in Open Air". A concert to delight the soul through various sorts of styles, with songs that have marked our lives in one way or another ... from classics like "Ave Maria" by Gounod, to tangos, ballads and boleros as "Perfidia" ... A concert, which had to be repeated to be broadcast live on local radio, at the request of the City Mayor ...

Her voice was known in Latin America by everyone ... however, her face and her name were almost a secret, because Andrea Rincon was a voice of TV commercials and radio spots, played million times over. Always heard but little recognized.

This singer of Brazilian nationality, based in Germany, began her  professional career by chance in 1989 at a known jazz club in Brazil and was unstoppable from there on. Riding the tide of countless invitations, she finally came to Europe. But it was her variety of styles and amazing flexibility of interpretation, that would open the doors there ... Andrea sings "Queen of the Night" from the opera The Magic Flute and "Satisfaction" from the Rolling Stones so professionally that she could even sing them in potpourri, if the public wanted her to do so ...

With the same professionalism she performed international pop music, swing or latin jazz, or even foreign folk music, as if she had been at home in every style. All with a fidelity that gave her a brand name wherever she went, leading to scenarios of kings and queens, presidents of foreign countries and VIPs. That is, to infinite presentations at gala nights, where she also had the opportunity to perform alongside big names in music, like Pavarotti and Caterina Valente. This also included famous film festivals as the "Golden Bear" in Berlin, where she was invited to perform twice ...These distant and inaccessible scenarios to us "commoners", kept her in anonymity to the general public.

But, "If the mountain won't come to Muhammad, then Muhammad must go to the mountain," Andrea Rincon came to Peru in 1999, invited by the Goethe Institut for a tour through Latin America with the German group Ufermann, with which she was performing at several renowned international jazz festivals, including the very famous Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. Well, in Lima this concert was such a success, that the original schedule of four concerts in the famous jazz clubs La Noche and Jazz Zone, was converted into nine concerts, right after the first show.

The same occurred in Arequipa, while performing at the Peruvian-German Institute. By the way, according to Wilhelm Helmbrecht, the Goethe Institut director at that time, her concert was considered one of the best concerts presented there, which is still talked about until now.

At the same time, in Europe, Andrea was in the charts, winning awards and recognition in England, Italy and Germany with Virgin Records and BMG Ariola with the song "Loving You", which was also voted the most played song in discos, for months.

After seven years of absence from Peru, Andrea returned, invited by the director of Iguana Producciones, Joaquin Vargas Llosa. Amongst other projects, her advice as musical director and stage performance coach was asked for the play "Thomas Becket" with Yvonne Frayssinet. Later, she undertook, also for Iguana Producciones, the production and musical direction of "Acompanhame", based on the play "Historia de una Escalera" of Antonio Buero Vallejo. Thanks to Andrea's coaching, this was the first musical from Iguana wherein the actors performed the songs live. Based on the major success of Acompanhame, Wakame Producciones invited Andrea to do the multimedia production and musical direction of their first theatrical work, "Una Rosa para Lima" with Yvonne Frayssinet, Cesar Ritter, Jorge Sarmiento, among other television stars. In this work you can enjoy all the eclecticism of Andrea Rincon, as film and music director, composer, also singing in the classic/erudite songs behind her music production.

Also in Peru, in partnership with the Peruvian producer Saul Peña, Andrea created a world music  project called: CHOCOLATE, a Conectando Mundos social project. Here she integrates elements of folklore and electronic music, rhythms and styles, but, moreover, rescuing living heritage of Peru. This social project, took children from the street to the studio to sing and tell their life stories... Stories that totally inspired the composition of Chocolate, the title song of one of the albums of the project.

Today, Andrea is back in Europe with Conectando Mundos, looking for partners to developed social projects for cultural integration against racism in Germany. The Gutshaus Mühlenhagen, its stages and galleries are destined to host and present artists from all over the world. The intention of this social project is to create integration providing free entry to all events, making the access to art and foreign culture possible to all.
